Dear
PENSA members:
In this PENSA
newsletter, we present the very interesting
issue: Ethics in Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.
This issue has been discussed in many congresses
of international PEN Societies such as the ESPEN
Congress in Munich last year, as well as in
our PENSA Congress in Indonesia. This abstract
was written by Dr.Daldiyono and derived from
the 7th Congress of PENSA abstract book. There
are many levels of ethical issues to be discussed
from the decision maker levels, research levels
to the ethical conduct of doctors in practice.
Moreover, the respect of patients' right to
know and choose the proper treatment for themselves
are also important. More about this issues are
expected to be discussed in our next PENSA meeting
in Kochi, Japan this year.
In addition, we
also plan to use this newsletter as a mean to
share our experience and knowledge about the
local food and nutritional practice in Asia.
This may help us to understand more deeply about
the food resource, practice, change and impact
on people in our Asian countries. In this edition
there are two articles; Nutrition in Malaysia
by Ms.Tilakavati Karuppaiah and Korean local
nutrition by Prof.Myung Duk Lee. These two articles
are also derived from the 7th Congress of PENSA
abstract book. However, all of you are invited
to send your paper or your opinion to share
with us.
