The purpose
of this symposium is to discuss or get knowledge
about postoperative diet control in each country,
in particular, in the early phase after surgery
for digestive organs. It is not exaggerated
to say that recovery of patients to the condition
being able to eat ordinary regular foods is
one of the ultimate purposes for us, surgeons.
In case becoming such a case, patients as well
as surgeons feel happy. Meal habits are influenced
by regional or traditional food culture, religion,
and economical situations. As the keynote speech
of this symposium, menu for patients in an early
phase of postoperative period in Japan will
be shown concentrating on patients underwent
gastric resection. Menu after gastric resection
is a standard of postoperative food management
of various kinds of surgery in Japan. We are
looking forward to learning various kinds of
way about postoperative diet management from
each country, focusing on menu in the early
phase after surgery.
